Woodbridge Cruising Club would like to wish everyone a very happy and peaceful New Year, with fair winds. Although the cruising season does not begin officially until May, the winter programme gives members a chance to socialise on shore.
Why not visit the club house to see what we offer? The club is open to non-members on Sunday 18th January. Do come to visit, meet our friendly club members and enjoy a very reasonably priced drink.
Members enjoyed the festive season, the Commodore’s Christmas Party being a highlight for many, with a welcome drink, music and a delicious buffet. New Year’s Eve saw members celebrating in style to a disco. Mulled wine and mince pies were provided at the clubhouse on Boxing Day, whilst the New Year Day’s walk was a gentle stroll around Woodbridge, returning to the clubhouse for warming homemade soup.
In January members are looking forward to the perennially popular Burn’s Night supper, with Piping in the Haggis, the traditional fare of haggis, tatties and neaps, and clan tartans being worn.
The monthly Sunday talks are always popular, and the December talk was the fascinating topic of the Shipping Forecast.
The December walks were strolls around Hollesley with views of the sea, and a forest stroll around Rendlesham, both ending at dog friendly pubs for lunch, the Butley Oyster and Blaxhall Ship.
Woodbridge Cruising Club will be running the RYA Day Skipper shore based and RYA VHF radio course in spring, the latter being a legal requirement to operate a ship’s radio. Full details on the Training page of this website.
The club bar overlooking the River Deben is a lovely place to catch up on member’s adventures and hear their sea faring stories.
