The cruising season is fully now underway, and members are enjoying being back on the water, especially in the delightful weather. The shared experience of the unique blend of sailing, navigational challenges, great company and sociable dinners make club cruises so popular.
June cruises will include the concurrent Muddy Cruise for shallow draft boats and the Shiny Cruise. Other future cruises are to Walton Backwater and Burnham Crouch, both perennial favourites, as well as voyages further afield to Lowestoft and beyond.
Wednesday barbecues are now running through the summer, when the weather is sunny, indoors if not, and members enjoy an evening in social company in the pleasant garden of the riverside club house.
Although the winter walks have stopped, during the sailing season, following the success of last year’s inaugural summer walk, there is another one planed for July. This time the walk will be along the Orwell, with a meal at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club. Some members will be sailing to the RHYC, and enjoying a peaceful night on the river.
The club will be open on Woodbridge Regatta Day Sunday 19th of July, with visitors able to enjoy the club bar overlooking the Deben. The club is open all afternoon serving drinks, light refreshments, and musical entertainment from the band ‘Slim Pickins’
