Members are enjoying being back on the water and the cruising season is fully now underway.
The Walton Backwaters cruise in July is always a perennial favourite, visiting Titchmarsh Marina. This sell-out cruise run by Peter saw members walk to the seaside, enjoy SADS (safe arrival drinks), an evening meal and barbecues. Club cruises are the raison d’etre of the club, and as everything is planned it is an easy way to cruise in company, enjoying a delightful range of social activities.
The Lowestoft and Southwold cruise led by Bram had to be cancelled due to adverse winds, but some participants still travelled to Lowestoft ( by land) and enjoyed the meal at The Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club. Future cruises include the Blackwater and Walton Pond.
The summer evening club walk in July, led by William, with a scenic stroll along the Orwell finishing with supper at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club, was enjoyed by members and dogs. Some members took the chance to sail down to the pub, and moor up overnight.
Wednesday barbecues are now running through the summer, and again are welcome social events, as are the weekend lunchtime bar openings in the clubhouse overlooking the River Deben.
The club will be open on Woodbridge Regatta Day Sunday 19th of July, with visitors able to enjoy the club bar overlooking the Deben. The club is open all afternoon serving drinks, light refreshments, and musical entertainment from the band ‘Slim Pickins’
Club members are looking forward to the August bank holiday barbecue, with the delicious puddings a highlight.
