The Fitting Out Supper, a formal occasion with a delicious three course meal, marks the start of the cruising season. This popular event is a special evening, and enjoyed by everyone.

The Cruise meeting, hosted by Cruise Captain John, is a chance to meet all the cruise leaders, and hear about the summer cruises, the raison d’etre of the club. The summer cruises range far and wide, from Burnham, to Lowestoft and even to Belgium and Holland. One of the main reasons for joining the club are cruising in company. The model boat challenge in April marks the start of the cruise season, a hotly fought contest between WCC and the Woodbridge Model Boat Club organised by Alex.

Other on shore activities are the Sunday talks, with  a fascinating talk from David on sailing single handed from Orford to Brazil  (via St Helena) inspiring many members. Future talks include the Great Yarmouth Drifters, by Will, the grandson of a fishing family involved in the herring fishing industry.

The Wednesday Suppers are always a sell out, and draw to a close in April.  The Spice Night was as always popular with six unique dishes of authentic cuisine, and the wine night led by Phillip and Jane gave members a chance to appreciate ( and vote on ) a selection of well chosen wines.

The Thursday walks come to an end in March, and thanks to Neil for co-ordinating these.  There was a lovely stroll around Freston, with a meal at the Boot led by Monica, and there will be a walk around Sutton Heath, led by Peter with a meal at the Plough. Dog friendly pubs are always chosen.

The cruising club is continuing with winter activities and Club Cruises are being planned for the summer, from the Deben river to Europe, so why not consider joining us. This website has full details and new members are welcome. If you have a genuine interest in sailing and the sea, have a look at our programme of maritime related events on the calendar.
